DMP files 915 cases over black smoke emission in July

DHAKA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 915 cases against vehicles emitting black smoke during separate drives across the capital in July.

According to the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, in a press release issued today, traffic division drives are being conducted to prevent environmental pollution and curb excessive black smoke emissions from vehicles plying city roads.

It said that, as part of the ongoing drives, cases were filed against vehicles found emitting black smoke in different areas of the capital throughout July.

Of the 915 cases filed by the DMP's eight traffic divisions, 34 were filed by the Traffic-Ramna Division, 354 by Traffic-Motijheel, four by Traffic-Lalbagh, 172 by Traffic-Wari, 131 by Traffic-Tejgaon, 36 by Traffic-Mirpur, 128 by Traffic-Uttara and 56 by Traffic-Gulshan, the release added.

The DMP said such drives and legal action against vehicles emitting black smoke will continue to prevent environmental pollution.
