PABNA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - Lawmaker of Pabna-5 constituency and Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas has said a Y-system bridge is set to be constructed to connect Pabna with the country's wider communication network.

"There is good news for the people of the district that the Y-shaped bridge is going to be built connecting Pabna," he said.

He made the remarks at a discussion meeting held at the conference room of the Pabna Deputy Commissioner's Office on Sunday afternoon on the occasion of National Fisheries Week.

Shimul Biswas said train services would start in Pabna soon and that the airport would also be brought into operation.

"Insufficient connectivity has long been a source of criticism and hardship for Pabna. This situation will change, Insha Allah," he said.

The lawmaker added that the Y-system bridge and the proposed Padma Barrage would put Pabna in a leading position among the country's districts.

He called for collective efforts to make the opportunity a reality.

Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam chaired the meeting while Superintendent of Police Abu Ashraf, District Fisheries Officer Dipak Kumar Pal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Moniruzzaman, NSI Pabna Deputy Director Toufiq Iqbal and Pabna Press Club General Secretary Johurul Islam addressed
