DHAKA, Feb 19, 2024 (BSS)-Thirteen gold medal matches -- eight of men's and five of women's -- in the open 12th Services (Men and Women) Wrestling competition were decided on the second day (Monday) held at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex in the city.
On the day, Bangladesh Army's Belal won the gold after beating Border Guard Bangladesh's (BGB) Ujjal in men's 57kg weight category; BGB's Siraj won gold by defeating Sohrab of Bangladesh Police in the 65kg category. Bangladesh Ansar's Dipu won gold by beating Army's Mahfuz in 70kg weight category.
Army's Jewel won gold by defeating BGB's Al Rajib in 74kg weight category. Dipu of BGB won the gold by beating Mir Abir of police in 79 kg weight category. Ansar's Ali Amjad won gold by defeating BGB's Alamgir in 86kg weight category. Abdur Rashid of BGB won the gold by defeating Khan Rakibul of Ansar in 92 kg weight category and Ansar's Liton won the gold by defeating BGB's Sohel n the 125kg weight category.
While in the women's section, Bangladesh Ansar's Rezia Sultana won the gold by defeating Army's Taslima in the women's 59kg category, Ansar's Maryam won the gold by defeating Mamni of the police in 62 kg weight category. Ansar's Dola Khatun won the gold after defeating Nasrin of Titas Gas in 65 kg weight category, Army's Irene won gold by beating Ansar's Jyoti in 68kg weight category and Poppy of Bangladesh Police won the gold by defeating Farjana Mitu of Bangladesh Army in the 72kg weight category.
A total of 150 men's and women's players from the services team are participating in the twenty eight categories of the three-day meet, organized by Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation.
