Bangladeshi boxers win WBC, WBA belt fights

 

DHAKA, March 9, 2024 (BSS)- Bangladesh's Abdul Motalib (King Kong) defeated India's Mohammad Azhar in a ten-round fight for the WBA South Asia lightweight title held at Hotel La Meridian in the city on Friday evening.
 
Besides, Sabiul Islam (King) of Bangladesh defeated India's Shubham Yadav in a six-round match in the WBC Youth Int'l Super Fly title, said a press release.
 
However, the most intriguing bout between Bangladeshi-born British MMA boxer Shah Kamali and Poland's Marcion Lazarez, ended in a draw.

Besides, Bangladesh's Noor Mohammad Nasib, Mohammad Jawad, Omar Farooq, Hasan Shikder, Zainul Islam and Mohan Ali won their respective games.
While in the women's event, Sanjida Jannat defeated Sadia Islam and Jui Lima lost to Bristhi Khatun.

Chairman of Bangladesh Professional Boxing Society Mohammad Asaduzzaman presided over the grand event of the greatest show which was organized for the first time in the country.

Former foreign minister Abdul Momen, MP, Awami League's advisory council member Muzaffar Hossain Paltu, Jewel Chowdhury, CEO of England-based securities agency J-Four, Sheikh Kudrat Joy, CEO of Sylhet Sunrisers, were among others, also present there.

Besides, four-time British heavyweight champion Julius Francis, who came to the country to promote professional boxing in Bangladesh, was seen to encourage the local boxers.

Meanwhile, some outstanding female sportspersons and organizers of the country were awarded memorials.
 
This huge event of Bangladesh Professional Boxing was broadcasted live by T-Sports. The mega event is sponsored by Nagad, Pragati Limited, J-Four Securities, Prabha Healthcare and Techify.

Organized by the Bangladesh Professional Boxing Association, the WBC and WBA belt fight was held for the first time in the Dhaka.
