Australia win toss and bowl against Afghanistan

ARNOS VALE, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, June 23, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first against Afghanistan in their Group One Super Eight encounter in the T20 World Cup at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent on Saturday.

On a run of five consecutive victories in this tournament, Australia's pursuit of cricket's Grand Slam - Test, One-Day and T20 world titles simultaneously - continues with the 2021 champions making one change from the last game with left-arm spinning all-rounder Ashton Agar replacing left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc.

Following a heavy defeat to India in Barbados the Afghans have made a couple of changes in hope of getting their Super Eight campaign back on course.

In comes 20-year-old left-arm spinner Nangeyalia Kharote for just his fourth T20 International along with the experienced Karim Janat. They replace Hazratullah Zazai and Najibullah Zadran.
