DHAKA, July 13, 2024 (BSS)- Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who will lead the Bangladesh High Performance (HP) unit in four-day match, believes that the members of the team will be hugely benefitted by touring Australia, a country where they hardly get the chance to visit apart from ICC events.

The national team will visit Australia for a full bilateral series in 2027 after 19 years and in this perspective, the HP tour is incredibly significant, according to Joy.

"No one in this group so far toured in Australia, so it will be our first visit in Down Under. It's also a very important tour since we have a Test series in Australia in 2027. I think by touring Australia now, we can have a good preparation for that Test series," Joy said while HP unit was leaving the country for Australia.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) called up a number of national players and potential cricketers who can get into the national team any time in this HP team.

National players like Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Afif Hossain and Mahmudul Hasan Joy are included to the team for this month long tour as they haven't been in cricket at this moment.

Afif Hossain and Sadman Islam, who have been playing international cricket for a long time are also called up along with the likes of relatively newcomer Shahadat Hossain Dipu.

HP team will play two four-day matches, three one-day matches and six T20 matches in this tour in Australia.

They will play two four-day matches against Pakistan Shaheens, which is originally Pakistan A team and one-day matches against Northern Territory.

However, they will face Pakistan Shaheens and several teams from Big Bash in T20 tournament where the cricketers will get a chance to play six matches apart from the semi-final and final. If they play semi-final and final, they matches will increase by two more.

Joy who himself is a Test regular said they are keen to win the series with HP team in Australia.

"Our team combination is superb. We have been together since our childhood. There are some players from Under-19 too. Some national players are also in the team. So I think we got a strong team. Obviously our main target will be to win the series.
