Police emerge champions in service kabaddi league

DHAKA, July 16, 2024 (BSS)- Bangladesh Police emerged champions in the Swapnabhumi Senior Services Kabaddi League that concluded at kabaddi stadium on Monday.

In the keenly contested last game of the league, Bangladesh police played 31-31 points draw with Bangladesh Navy after the first half was also locked by 12-12 points. Bangladesh Police however declared champions by virtue of ahead in points while Bangladesh Navy finished runners-up.

In other match of the day held at the same venue, Bangladesh Army finished third position in the league beating Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) by 51-22 points with three creditable lona after leading the first half by 29-10-point game.

Mizanur Rahman won the best player award by showing his impressive performance in this league. Roman Hussain was adjudged the best catcher while Shah Mohammad Shahan was named the best raider of the meet.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) president Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, National Sports Council secretary (joint secretary) Md Aminul Islam, Bangladesh Police additional DIG (development) and BKF joint secretary Gazi Md. Mozammel Haque, were among others, present in the prize distribution ceremony, presided by Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner and BKF general secretary Habibur Rahman.

A total of eight teams took part in the league, organised by BKF. The participating teams are Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP.
