Bangladesh take on host Bhutan this evening


 
DHAKA, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh take on host Bhutan in their first match of two FIFA Women's International Friendlies scheduled to be held this (Wednesday) evening at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.
The match kicks off at 6 pm (BST).
 
Earlier, on Monday last, Bangladesh eve football team reached Thimphu to play the two-match series against Bhutan as a part of their preparation for the upcoming SAFF Women's Championship in Nepal in October.
 
Prior to the departure for Bhutan, Bangladesh skipper Sabina Khatun said the two matches against Bhutan would help them prepare for the SAFF Championship.
 
She said it's a good thing that the team is going to play matches against Bhutan and the Bangladesh captain expected another couple of matches as they have around two months in hand to play the SAFF.
 
It would have been better to play against stronger opponents, but Bhutan have been improving rapidly said captain Sabina Khutun, saying that that these two matches against Bhutan would be beneficial preparation for the SAFF Championship.
 
Coach Butler said it's a good opportunity for the new players to prove themselves in two matches against Bhutan.
 
Earlier, the Bangladesh women's team played two home matches against Chinese Taipei in the May-June window, where they suffered 4-0 and 1-0 defeats.
Bangladesh will play their second and ultimate match against Bhutan on July 27.
