Hasaranga out as Sri Lanka opt to bat in 2nd India ODI

COLOMBO, Aug 4, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka won the
toss and elected to bat against India in the second one-day international
after the hosts lost spinner Wanindu Hasaranga due to injury on Sunday.

Hasaranga has been ruled of the three-match series after he injured his
hamstring during the opener, which ended in a tie. The two teams now look for
a lead in Colombo.

Sri Lanka made two changes to their team with Kamindu Mendis and Jeffrey
Vandersay coming in for Hasaranga and Mohamed Shiraz.

Sri Lanka are battling injuries with fast bowlers Matheesha Pathirana
(shoulder) and Dilshan Madushanka (hamstring) ruled out ahead of the series.

India, led by Rohit Sharma, come in unchanged after they faltered in their
chase on Friday to be all out for 230 and end level with Sri Lanka.

With no Super Over on offer, the match ended in a tie but a Sri Lankan
newspaper reported Sunday the match officials missed out playing the decider
over after playing conditions changed in December.

However, there has been no official word on this and none of the teams have
filed a complaint.
