DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - Several Bangladesh cricketers made significant
progress in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) weekly updated
rankings, released today, following the side's 2-1 ODI series victory against
West Indies.

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed jumped 24 places to reach 47th position among
bowlers after claiming five wickets in two matches in the series.

His fellow spinner Tanvir Islam leapfrogged 27 places to 68th in the updated
list.

Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz also saw a leap as he moved up one spot to 17th.

Soumya Sarkar was the big gainer amongst the Bangladesh batters after an
explosive 91 runs in the final ODI, which was key for him in making a huge
leap. Soumya who also played a 45-run knock in the second match climbed 24
places to reach 62nd position in the batting rankings.

Najmul Hossain Shanto inched up one spot to 42nd, while Towhid Hridoy
maintained his 35th position.

Former Indian Captain Rohit Sharma jumped two ranks to lead the ODI batting
chart as he reached No.1 position for the first time in his career.
Afghanistan's Rashid Khan retains his No. 1 spot among bowlers.

Rohit Sharma became the oldest player to reach no.1 position at ODI rankings
and thus created a history. In the all-rounders' list, Miraz remains
Bangladesh's highest-ranked player, holding steady at No. 4, with
Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai leading the category.
