DHAKA, Nov 14, 2025 (BSS) - Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan today (Friday) announced a cash reward of Taka 10 lakh for the medal winners of the 24th Teer Asian Archery Championship, which concluded earlier in the day."

The Adviser, who was present as the chief guest on the closing ceremony of the championship, made the announcement during the prize distribution ceremony held at Bangladesh Army Stadium.

Himu Bachar and Bonna Akter won silver in the compound mixed team event, while Kulsum Akter Moni secured bronze in the compound women's singles. The Adviser announced a Taka 10 lakh grant for each of the three archers."

"Speaking as the chief guest, the Adviser said, 'It is true that although we are one of the most populous countries in the world, we still do not have an Olympic gold medal. But I hope we will achieve one through archery.'

He added, 'I would also like to announce, on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a prize of Taka 10 lakh each for the three Bangladeshi medalists of this competition.'

The Adviser noted that to win an Olympic gold medal, athletes need facilities comparable to those of their international competitors. He said the Ministry of Youth and Sports is prepared to provide all possible support to make that happen."

Bonna Akter said in her reaction, 'I am very happy to hear about the Sports Adviser's announcement of such a financial reward.'

She added that the reward would further increase their interest in archery and help them stay more focused on the sport.
