DHAKA, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS)- The Inter-College Football Tournament, marking the Festival of Youth, has begun at the Government Physical Education College ground in the city's Mohammadpur today.

Md. Mahbubur Rahman, director (joint secretary), Directorate of Sports, Dhaka, formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, organized by the District Administration under the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Abdul Wares Ansari presided over the opening ceremony. Government Physical Education College Principal Md. Mominul Hasan attended as a special guest, while Padma Government College Principal Md. Jalal Hossain and other invited guests were also present.

District Sports Officer and Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee, Suman Kumar Mitra, delivered the welcome speech. A total of 24 colleges are taking part in the competition.

In the opening match, the Navy College team made a good start by beating Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College team by 5-0 goals.

The closing and award giving ceremony of the tournament will be held on December 8.
