DHAKA, June 10, 2026 - Bangladesh cricketers Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam
have been shortlisted for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for May
following their outstanding performances in Bangladesh's Test series sweep
over Pakistan.
The two Bangladesh stars are joined on the three-man shortlist by Nepal all-
rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, ICC said in a statement today.
Taijul earned the nomination after emerging as the leading wicket-taker in
Bangladesh's 2-0 Test series victory against Pakistan. The left-arm spinner
claimed 13 wickets in two Tests at an average of 19.61 and played a decisive
role in the hosts' success.
His standout performance came in the second Test in Sylhet, where he returned
figures of 6-120 in Pakistan's second innings to help Bangladesh seal the
series.
Mushfiqur, meanwhile, was named Player of the Series after scoring 235 runs
in two Tests at an average of 63.25. The veteran batter laid the foundation
for Bangladesh's success with crucial innings of 71 in the first Test and a
match-defining 137 in the second Test.
The nominations reflect Bangladesh's dominance in the series and the
significant contributions of both players in securing a historic clean sweep
over Pakistan.
Nepal's Dipendra was nominated following an impressive all-round display in
the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 competition in Kirtipur. The all-rounder
amassed 249 runs in six ODIs at an average of 49.80 and a strike rate of
110.66, including a century against the United Arab Emirates. He also claimed
eight wickets during the month.
In the ICC Women's Player of the Month category, nominees are Lauren Bell of
England, Gull Feroza of Pakistan and Maddy Green of New Zealand.
The winners of the monthly awards will be determined through a combination of
votes from global cricket fans and a specialist ICC voting panel.
