KHULNA, June 4, 2024 (BSS) - Hundred percent of Boro paddy was harvested in Khulna region in the last week of May, according to the Department of Khulna agriculture zone.

This year, Boro paddy was cultivated on 2, 57,580 hectares of land in the four districts under the Khulna agriculture zone - - Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Narail.

The agriculture officials said the total cultivated land of 11, 48,107 metric tones boro paddy was produced.

Talking to BSS, Mohon Kumar Ghosh, additional director of the Khulna DAE zone, said "We have sent the final report to the Dhaka DAE office on May 26, 2024.

He said production has been exceed the target this year as the government provided the Boro paddy growers with free agricultural inputs, including seeds and fertilizer to increase the production of Boro, the main staple food crop in the country.

He, however, said, farmers of the region become very happy due to exceed the production target of Boro paddy despite long drought and inadequate rain.
