JOYPURHAT, Aug 13, 2024 (BSS) - Farmers of the district have already completed the transplantation of Aman paddy seedlings on 69,205 hectares of land in all five upazilas this season.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Rahela Parveen said the target of cultivation has been set at 69,850 hectares of land in the current 2024-25 Kharip-1 season , including 61,980 hectares of high yielding varieties, 7,525 hectares of hybrid varieties and 1,345 hectares of local varieties.
The rice production target has been set at about three lakh tonnes of rice.
Upazila-wise targets has been set at 17,000 hectares of land in Joypurhat Sadar upazila, 19,400 hectares of land in Panchbibi upazila, 10,725 hectares in Akkelpur upazila, 10,775 hectares in Khetlal upazila, 11,950 hectares land in Kalai upazila of the district.
Field level agriculture officials of the DAE are providing necessary assistance and latest technologies to the farmers to ensure successful cultivation of Aman rice.
