DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - Governor of Yunnan Province of China Wang Yubo
met Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at the Commerce Ministry Conference Room
at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the development of
bilateral relations, trade, investment and cooperation.
The Commerce Adviser said that there is a huge potential for increasing trade
and commerce between Bangladesh and Yunnan Province. "Bangladesh wants to
take the friendly relations to a new height by utilizing such potential,"
He said there is also an opportunity to enhance the cooperation in the fields
of education, health, agriculture and tourism sectors through the development
of bilateral relations, said a Commerce Ministry press release.
In addition to boosting investment, Bashir called for cooperation in
launching agricultural drone systems in the country, capacity building of
trainers, pesticide management and undertaking experimental projects in food
crops production.
Citing that the potentials of tourism in Bangladesh is good, Bashir also
sought cooperation in increasing domestic tourism (local tourism) by
utilizing Yunnan's tourism experience.
At the same time, the Commerce Adviser called upon the Governor of Yunnan
Province to come forward to develop tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh and
thus increase investment in Bangladesh.
Mentioning that China-Bangladesh relations are now excellent, Yunnan Province
Governor Wang Yubo said that Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus'
recent visit to China has taken Bangladesh-China relations to a new height.
In continuation of this, he said the Yunnan Province is interested in
strengthening relations with Bangladesh through boosting trade and
investment.
Citing that Yunnan Province is located close to Bangladesh, he said if the
Chattogram-Kunming flight is launched, the bilateral relations would gain
further momentum. Besides, he emphasized on improving the relations between
the people of Yunnan Province and the people of Bangladesh.
The Yunnan Province governor said that there is a demand for Bangladeshi
products, especially the demand for seasonal fruits is the highest.
He also expressed his interest in importing mango and hilsa fish from
Bangladesh.
Wang Yubo said that Yunnan Province is known as a popular tourist destination
for tourists while the natural beauty of Yunnan Province is attractive to
tourists.
During this time, he assured of developing tourism in Bangladesh and
increasing cooperation in the education and healthcare sectors.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Agriculture Secretary Dr Mohammad
Emdad Ullah Mian, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) of the Tourism Board Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber were present at
the meeting.
