Govt to procure 1 cargo LNG, 2.20cr litre palm olein

DHAKA, April 22, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some one cargo LNG, 2.20 crore litres of refined palm olein and 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer to meet the growing demand.

The approvals came from the 16th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting virtually.

Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through following international quotation method from M/S Vitol Asia Pte Limited, Singapore with around TK 598.30 crore.

In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure 2.20 crore litres of refined palm olein through local Open Tender Method (OTM) from Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited, Dhaka with around TK  356.82 crore with per litre palm olein costing TK  162.19.

Responding to a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will procure 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh with around TK  142.87 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $390.37.
