Stocks rebound on both bourses

DHAKA, May 04, 2025 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the four sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 38.33 points or 0.78 per cent to settle at 4,956.25. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 11.13 points to finish at 1,834.02 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 6.20 points to close at 1,100.38.

Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 395 issues traded, 290 advanced, 67 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 3,993.36 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 3,266.39 million at the previous session of the week.

City Bank dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by BEACHHATCH, UTTARABANK, MIDLANDBANK and AIL.

Bank Asia was the day's top gainer, rising 10.43 per cent, while EIL was the worst loser, shedding 6.41 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 0.07 point to settle at 13,805.39.
