Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) 
and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall 
in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 24.0 points to settle at 5,424 
points as against 5,448 points in the previous trading session. 

Meanwhile, market turnover also increased by 19.0% to Taka 7.4 billion from 
Taka 6.2 billion in the previous session. 

On the sectoral front, Pharma (11.2%) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Bank (10.8%) and Textile (9.2%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed 
dismal returns, out of which Travel (-2.2%), Textile (-1.8%) and Ceramic (-
1.0%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today, while Life Insurance 
(2.0%), IT (1.0%) and Tannery (0.5%) exhibited some gains. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 95 advanced, 254 declined and 48 remained 
unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on a positive zone. The Selective 
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) slightly advanced 
by 1.8 points and 10.9 points, respectively.
