PIROJPUR, Oct 06, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said people are the sources of inspiration of BNP.

“People choose the party to run the state whenever they get chance for casting their vote freely,” he said adding BNP is the symbol of trust to the people.

Tarique Rahman said this in a virtual meeting with senior BNP leader Motaleb Akon, who was paralyzed in an attack by Awami terrorists during the previous government's tenure in Mulgram area of ??Tona union in Pirojpur Sadar upazila.

“We see Motaleb Akon is sitting on a wheelchair. All of us know why he is sitting on the wheelchair. He sustained the injury due to the attack by his political opponent,” he said.

Tarique Rahman said, “I’m in exile for many years, I am forced to stay in exile. Over the last 17 years, many people, including our party men were persecuted and many people embraced martyrdom in the movement for establishing the people’s voting, political, or economic rights.”

He said, “We believe in multi-party democracy. There will be different parties and different ideologies. But we should minimize that quarrel."

Referring to Motaleb Akon's children, he said, "There are millions of young men and women who want to survive in the struggle of life. We are thinking about all those young people. We are planning in such a way that they can survive with minimum basic rights.”

He said BNP wants to build a society based on merit.

Regarding farmers, he said, Bangladesh is an agriculturally dependent country as millions of farmers are involved in agricultural work.

“As the farmers produce crops, 20 crore people are getting food. Farmers are affected by various natural disasters at different times. We are planning how to stand by the farmers, how to make millions of mothers and sisters of Bangladesh self-reliant, how to educate them a little more,” he said.

Pirojpur District BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Khan chaired the event which was moderated by Member Secretary Saidul Islam Kismat. 

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rezvi Ahmed, Director of Ziaur Rahman Foundation journalist Sayeed Khan, Joint Convener of District BNP Elijah Zaman and BNP National Executive Committee Member Principal Alamgir Hossain also spoke.
