DHAKA, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - A vessel carrying 60,950 metric tonnes of wheat from the United States has reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port under cash purchase agreement No. G2G-01, signed between the governments of Bangladesh and the United States.
Bangladesh has begun importing wheat from the US under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement, a PID handout said today.
Under this agreement, a total of 4,40,000 metric tonnes of wheat will be imported. The first consignment of 56,959 metric tonnes arrived on October 25, the second consignment of 60,802 metric tonnes on November 3, and the third consignment of 60,875 metric tonnes on November 15.
The latest shipment, carried by the vessel MV LOWLANDS PATRASCHE, is the fourth consignment under the agreement.
With its arrival, the total volume of wheat received from the US now stands at 2,39,586 metric tonnes.
The Food Ministry said sample testing of the wheat on board has already begun. Once quality testing is completed, necessary steps will be taken to unload the consignment without delay.
