DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Director General (DG) Dr Salim M Al Malik today observed that the July Memorial Museum will be a valuable learning experience for the global community regarding the preservation of youth narratives.

"July museum will be a valuable learning experience for the global community regarding the preservation of youth narratives," he said at a meeting with Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

Earlier, Dr Al Malik and his delegation visited the July Memorial Museum in the city.

ICESCO DG said he was particularly impressed by the quality of the works and the concept surrounding the museum, as he observed the memorial, sculptures, and a presentation at the July Museum.

"People worldwide share a common future. This is a valuable lesson for the world regarding how to preserve youth stories," said Dr Al Malik.

Cultural Affairs Adviser Farooki spoke about how people are robbed of from their history and identity which push them to grapple with cultural fault lines.

These cultural fault lines are apparently not big issues but actually give birth to big uprisings if not addressed rightly, he said.

Echoing with Farooki, Dr Al Malik said, "Cultural policy-making is not frequently engaging young people. In many cases, we compose it for our own interest, but we never include the youth. Initially, we must carefully listen to their perspective. And we must make their narratives as our narratives".

During the meeting, they also discussed particular areas of culture and heritage where ICESCO and Bangladesh can work together. Both of them agreed to take this discussion forward and translate it into some important works together.

Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Director General of the National Museum were also present in the meeting.
