BGMEA urges factory closure tomorrow for state mourning over Khaleda Zia’s death

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has expressed full support to the government’s decision and requested the authorities concerned to declare a one-day general holiday on December 31 at all garment factories affiliated with the association.

The BGMEA has requested garment factory owners across the country to keep all factories closed tomorrow (December 31), expressing solidarity with the state mourning declared by the government following the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. 

Khaleda Zia passed away at 6:00 am today. Following her death, the government declared three days of state mourning along with a one-day general holiday.

In a press release, the BGMEA expressed full support to the government’s decision and requested the authorities concerned to declare a one-day general holiday on December 31 at all garment factories affiliated with the association.
