CHATTOGRAM, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - MEP Hi-Tech is investing Tk 200 crore to set up an electrical and electronics manufacturing facility at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.
The company will develop the facility on around 10 acres of land. The technology-driven and environment-friendly plant will produce electrical and electronic products including wires, switch-sockets, fans, LED lights and circuit breakers.
BEZA Executive Member and Additional Secretary (Investment and Development) Saleh Ahmed inaugurated the construction of MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park at a ceremony here this morning.

According to the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), MEP Group has been operating in Bangladesh's electrical and electronics sector since 1974.
The project is expected to create direct and indirect employment for around 2,000 people once it reaches full production. The company aims to start operations within the next year.
Saleh Ahmed said the investment would contribute significantly to the country's industrialisation.
He said the project would also help promote technology-driven production, create import-substituting industries, generate jobs and diversify exports.
BEZA will continue to provide necessary support to create an investment-friendly environment and help investors set up industries quickly, he added.
