RAJSHAHI, March 1, 2024 (BSS)- A trial court here on Thursday convicted a
person and sentenced him to life imprisonment for killing his wife around two
years back in the district.

The convict identified as Golam Mostofa, 28, son of Abul Kalam of Bardhanpara
village under Durgapur upazila has also been fined Taka 20,000, in default,
to pay he will suffer one-month more behind the bar.

Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention
Tribunal-2, found the convict guilty of the murder charge and handed down the
verdict.
 
According to the prosecution story, in brief, Golam Mostofa strangled his
wife to death at his father-in-law's house on April 7, 2022 following a
family feud.

Father of the victim had lodged a case with Durgapur Police Station. Upon
completion of the investigation, police pressed charges accusing Golam
Mostafa.

After examining the recorded depositions of the enlisted prosecution
witnesses and other relevant evidence, the tribunal pronounced the verdict.

Special Public Prosecutor Shamsunnahar Mukti conducted the case on behalf of
the state.
