NILPHAMARI, March 7, 2024 (BSS) - The historic March 7 was observed in the district as elsewhere of the country today in a befitting manner, commemorating the landmark speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which was touted as an indirect declaration of the country's independence in 1971. 

On the occasion of the day, hoisting of the national flag, placing of wreath and discussions programmes were organized by the district administration.

Marking the day, the district administration, district unit of Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and many other organisations chalked out elaborate programmes. 

In the morning, Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Al Masud, Superintendent of Police Md Golam Sabur, District Muktijoddha Sangsad, Municipal Mayor  and District Awami League President Dewan Kamal Ahmed,   Sadar Upazila Awami League President Abuzar Rahman,  its  General Secretary Wadud Rahman,  Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shahid Mahmud, and various social and cultural organizations  placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in  Bangabandhu  Chattar of the town here in phases. 

The programme was followed by a discussion held at the Bangabandhu Chattar in the district town this morning on the importance of the day March 7. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Al Masud, Superintendent of Police Md Golam Sabur, District Muktijoddha Sangsad, Municipal Mayor  and District Awami League President Dewan Kamal Ahmed,   Sadar Upazila Awami League President Abuzar Rahman,  its  General secretary Wadud Rahman and  Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shahid Mahmud, among others, spoke at the function.
