GUK's month-long iftar, dinner feeding program going on in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, March 29, 2024 (BSS) - A month-long iftar and dinner feeding
programme for orphan, aged and helpless people of the town and its adjoining
areas under Sadar upazila here has been going on since the beginning of the
holy Ramadan.

Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a reputed non-government development organisation,
has arranged the activity under its core programme as part of the social
corporate responsibility (CSR).

Every day, a distinguished person is invited by the organisation to attend
the iftar and doa mahfil.

In continuation, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Kazi Nahid
Rasul attended the iftar and doa mahfil programme on the premises of GUK
office at Masterpara of the town on Thursday as the chief guest.
 
Speaking on the occasion Kazi Rasul said Ramadan is the month of fasting and
moderation. During the holy month, Muslims build stronger relationships with
Allah through fasting, selfless actions and praying, she added.

She also thanked the chief executive of GUK Abdus Salam for conducting such
activity for the poor and distressed people of the district.

Deputy Director of Local Government here Md. Shariful Islam, Additional
District Magistrate Md. Mashiur Rahman, ADC (Revenue) Jahid Hasan Siddiquee,
ADC (General) Dewan Moudud Ahmed and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO)
Mahmud Al-Hasan accompanied the DC.

Talking to the BSS, Abdus Salam said iftar and dinner are being provided to
as many as 350 poor people of the upazila daily.

In reply to a query, he said the programme would continue till the last day
of Ramadan.

Earlier, local lawmaker Shah Sarwar Kabir formally inaugurated the programme
as the chief guest.

The Chief Executive of the GUK sought wholehearted cooperation from all to
make the activity a grand success during the month of holy Ramadan.
