Flood situation being improved in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, July 9, 2024 (BSS)-  Over all flood situation in the district is being improved gradually as the water level in the river Jamuna continued to drop.

Water Development Board sources said during the last 24 hours water level in the river Jamuna dropped 16 cm was flowing 58 cm over the red mark (19.05 meter) at Bahadurabad ghat point this morning.

The flood water also affected over 2.5 lakh people in 38 unions and 3 municipalities in six upazilas  out of seven of the district.

A minor boy was drowned in flood water in Sarishabari upazila of the district on Monday. The victim was identified as Yasin, 7, son of Md Helal at village Adra Purbapara in Sarishabari upazila.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Alamgir Hossain  said about 4 thousand people took shelter in 15 flood shelters. He said 540 tonnes of rice, GR cash Taka 15 lakh and 450 packets dried food have been disbursed among the flood victims.

Civil Surgeon, Dr Md Fazlul Haque said one  medical team in each affected unions and one in civil suegeron office are working. He said the situation is under control.
