BANDARBAN, July 30, 2024 (BSS) - A week-long 'National Fisheries Week-2024' began today in the district to promote sustainable development and expansion of fisheries resources.

This year, the theme of the week is "Nirapad Machee Varbo Desh, Garbo Smart Bangladesh".

On the occasion, Bandarban Hill District Council and Directorate of Fisheries organized a view exchange meeting in the conference room of the Bandarban District Fisheries Office this morning.

The District Fisheries Office have taken various programs marking the event including colorful processions, exchange of views, discussions, release of fish fry and distribution of prizes among successful fish farmers.

Activities undertaken by the Department of Fisheries for protection and prosperity of fisheries resources were discussed in the view-exchange meeting.

District Fisheries Officer Abhijit Sheel, Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar of Bandarban Center ABM Rafiqul Islam, Headmaster of Bandarban Government High School Sahad Kumar Barua, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer of Bandarban Sadar Upazila Mohammad Mamunur Rahman, senior officials from various public and private sectors, mass media workers and fishermen, among others, were present.

The National Fisheries Week-2024 will continue till August 5.
