RAJSHAHI, Aug 20, 2024 (BSS)-The Rajshahi Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal today convicted nine people and sentenced them to death for killing Saidar Rahman Malitha in Pabna around two years back.

Muhammad Mohiduzzaman, Judge of the tribunal, found the accused guilty in the murder charge and pronounced the verdict before the convicts.

Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Entajul Haque said five other accused of the case also were given life-term imprisonment, while seven others were acquitted.
 
The convicts who were given the capital punishment are: Alauddin Malitha, Ripon Khan, Swapan Malitha, Ashique Malitha, Rakib Malitha, Yeasin Arafat, Ranju Malitha, Jony Malitha and Alif Malitha.

Life term imprisoned convicts are: Dulal Malitha, Raju Malitha, Aynal Malitha, Sanju Malitha and Belal Hossain.

According to the prosecution story in brief, the accused in accomplice with each other chopped Saider Malitha to death at Char Bangabari area under Pabna Sadar upazila on September 9, 2022.   

A case was lodged with the Sadar Police Station on the same day. Upon completion of the investigation police pressed charges accusing 21 persons.
