SATKHIRA, Aug 28, 2024 (BSS) - A murder case has been filed in the senior judicial magistrate court here against 32 persons, including former president of the district Awami League (AL) and former member of parliament (MP) Engineer Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former superintendent of police Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir for killing a Jamaat activist Shahidul Islam in 2015.

Brother of the victim Emadul Haque, resident of Kashempur village under Sadar upazila filed the case in the court of senior judicial magistrate court of the district today.

The senior judicial magistrate of the court Judge Nayan Baral directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station to take up the case as a first information report (FIR).

The other persons accused in the case are - former assistant superintendent of police Kazi Moniruzzaman, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Enamul Haque, former president of District Jubo League Abdul Mannan and 24 more unidentified persons.

According to the details of the case, on February 6, 2015, the accused came in a black microbus and picked up the Jamaat activist Shahidul Islam from Kashempur village of the district town. 

Later, he was shot dead and his body was dumped in the outskirts of Jashore town. 

Plaintiff's lawyer Advocate Akbar Hossain confirmed the matter.
