KHULNA, Aug 28, 2024 (BSS)- Ex-president of Khulna Lawyers Association advocate Saiful Islam and three others were sued on charge of embezzlement of welfare fund of the association.

Member secretary of the bar association advocate Nurul Hasan Ruba filed the case with Khulna Sadar Police Station today.
 
The FIR of the case said the association deposited Taka 3.80 crore with SIBL.

After encashment Taka 2 crore were distributed among the members and Taka one crore was deposited as FDR with IFIC bank. The remaining balance of Taka 73.85 lakh were embezzled by the accused persons, it said.

Other accused of the case are former general secretaries of the association advocate Tarique Mahmud Tara and advocate A K M Iqbal Hossain, senior advocate Badsha Mia and Ishtiaq, cashier of Saiful’s business organization.

New convening committee of the bar association in a general meeting took the decision for filing the case.

Advocate Saiful Islam, also president of Sadar Thana Awami League remained absconding after fallen of the Awami League government.
