NARAIL, Aug 29, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today awarded death sentence to a man and his friend for killing his wife in Sadar Upazila of the district in 2022.

District and Sessions Judge of Narail Almas Hossain Mridha handed down the verdict convicting Rony Sheikh, 26, and his friend Mehedi Hasan Hridoy alias Abbas Fakir, 24. They hailed from Sharatola village of the upazila.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, on November 4 in 2022, Rony Sheikh killed his wife Asia along with his friend by cutting her throat and set fire to the body over adultery at the village Sharatola.

Later, a case was filed with Narail Sadar Thana following the murder. Police later pressed the charge sheet against the two convicts.

After testifying the witnesses and evidences, the court delivered the verdict in presence of the duo. The court also fined Tk 100,000 each, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Emdadul Islam.
