RAJSHAHI, Oct 6, 2024 (BSS) - The National Birth and Death Registration Day was observed in Rajshahi with a call for bringing all birth and death cases under registration within the stipulated time.
Marking the day, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) organized a discussion meeting held at its city bhaban conference hall highlighting the significance of the day.
Earlier, a rally was brought out from the city bhaban premises and ended at the meeting venue after parading some of the important city streets carrying banners and festoons.
With RCC Chief Health Officer Dr AFM Anjumanara Begum in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Executive Magistrate Sadia Afrin, Birth -Death Registration Officer Nazma Khatun and Ward Secretary Idrish Ali.
The meeting was told that registration within 45 days of any birth and death is mandatory and the message has been reached to everyone on priority basis as no basic public service will be available without birth registration.
In her remarks, Dr Anjumanara Begum opined that wide-ranging mass-awareness about the importance of birth and death registration can be the best way of achieving sustainable development goals in this field.
Birth and death registration of all citizens of the country has become an urgent need for formulating a flawless database in near future.
She also said many people suffer a lot due to errors in birth registration. So, birth registration must be prepared with correct and accurate information in all personal documents.
“For the cherished national development, more progress is needed in the process of birth and death registration”, she added.
