RANGPUR, Oct 6, 2024 (BSS) - There is no substitute for creating awareness
among common people to ensure timely registrations of births and deaths for
everyone to avail all citizen benefits in a hassle-free manner.
The observation came today at a post-rally discussion arranged at the
conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in observance of the National
Birth and Death Registration Day-2024 in the city.
The Rangpur divisional, district and Sadar upazila administrations jointly
organized the event after bringing out a rally on the city streets marking
the day.
Acting Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Azmal Hossain was present as the
chief guest in the discussion chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul
Foysal.
Divisional Deputy Director (Local Government Division) Md Abu Jafar and Civil
Surgeon Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury spoke as special guests.
The speakers stressed on encouraging every citizen in registering births of
newborn babies so that they could enjoy all facilities being provided by the
state and government and registering deaths as well to help prepare national
plans.
The Divisional Commissioner said that on time registration of births and
deaths birth and death registrations are very essential for everyone to get
civil benefits.
If the birth is not registered within 45 days of the child's birth, various
problems are faced later.
"Birth registration is required for various purposes including admission to
educational institutions, passport, driving license, land registration,
national identity card and other purposes," he said.
Regarding death registration, he said, death registration is required for
many purposes including land ownership, distribution of property of the
deceased and receipt of family pension.
"Besides, if deaths are not registered, it is not possible to determine the
actual population of the country," he said, and urged all concerned to create
mass public awareness about birth and death registrations.
