Two arrested with arms in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Jan 31, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two men with two foreign pistols from Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district.

Md. Kalimullah, additional superintendent of police in Narsingdi, said police arrested them on Thursday night from the Asharampur area under Palashtali Union of Raipura police station.

They were identified as Md. Akash (28), son of Abu Sattar from South Mirzangar in Raipura, and Md. Rasel (30), son of Fazlu Miah from Baniyachhal under Narsingdi Sadar police station.

According to the police, Sub-Inspector Kazi Kamal Miah and his team were on night patrol when they received a tip-off that two individuals were travelling toward Raipura from Narsingdi with firearms by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

When police signalled the auto-rickshaw to stop, the two persons attempted to flee but police quickly apprehended. Law enforcers recovered two foreign-made pistols, 11 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, and two mobile phones from their possession.

Md. Kalimullah said that a case has been filed with Raipura police station in connection with the incident. He also said that Rasel has a criminal record with nine previous cases, including charges of illegal arms possession, narcotics and robbery.
