MANIKGANJ, Feb 2, 2025 (BSS) - The ferry movement between the Paturia-Daulatdia river route resumed after 10.30 hours of suspension for poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river bed of the Padma, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said.

BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury said the ferry movement was disrupted due to dense fog blanketing the river route.

Five ferries Hasna Hena, Golam Maula, Vigar, Shah Poran and Shah Enayetpuri were waiting at Paturia Ghat and six ferries Shah Keramat Ali, Kumilla, Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Shaheed Borkot, Gouri, and Kopoti were at Daulatdia Ghat during the suspension period, DGM added.

After 9.00 am today (Sunday) the ferry movement started with full loads, DGM Nasir Mahmud said.

Meanwhile, the ferry movement resumed after 8.30 hours of suspension in the Aricha-Kazirhat route as the dense fog blanketed the river bed.

BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah said the ferry movement was suspended from 11.30 pm on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. During this period three ferries Shah Ali, Dhan Shiri, and Chitra were at Kazirhat Ghat and three ferries Khan Jahan Ali, Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman and Kishani were at Aricha Ghat. At 8 am on Sunday the ferry movement became normal, the sources said.
