Safe food consumption vital to ensure sound health

RAJSHAHI, Feb 2, 2025 (BSS)- Speakers at a seminar here today unanimously viewed that safe food consumption has become an urgent need to maintain sound health.

All quarters who are engaged in producing, manufacturing, processing and marketing of food should discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to reach safe food to the consumers.

Government officials and experts came up with the observation while taking part in the seminar at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) to mark The National Food Safety Day 2025.

Bangladesh Safe Food Authority and District Administration jointly organized the seminar with the theme of the day   "Khadya Hok Nirapod, Sustha Thakuk Janogon" .

Divisional Director of Local Government Division, Parvej Raihan addressed the seminar as chief guest, while DC Afiya Akhter was in the chair.

Deputy Director of Local Government Division Zakiul Islam, Additional DC Mahinul Islam and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Rakibul Hassan Ibne Rahman also spoke.

The speakers observed that time has come to ensure food safety to build sound public health everywhere in the society and called for concerted efforts of all concerned to ensure food safety.

Parvej Raihan mentioned that adulterated and contaminated foods always pose a serious threat to the public health and called for taking punitive measures against the food adulteration and contamination so that none is dare to commit such types of crimes.

The existing acts and the law enforcers alone would never be able to address the situation unless people from all walks of life become effectively aware of the harms of taking adulterated foods.
