CHATTOGRAM, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined traders Tk 13,000 and seized 2,000 meters of illegal fishing nets (current nets) in a drive at Dohazari Market under Chandanaish upazila of the district.

The seized nets were later burned and destroyed on the spot.

The operation was led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Diplomacy Chakma, with the cooperation of officials from the Fisheries and Land Offices.

Executive Magistrate Chakma said such drives will continue to protect the environment and preserve fisheries resources by preventing the sale and use of banned fishing nets.
