Seeds, fertilizers distributed among 840 farmers in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among 840 small and marginal farmers in Kapasia upazila of the district under the government's agricultural incentive programme.

The distribution was carried out by the Kapasia Upazila Agriculture Office to promote the cultivation and production of winter vegetables in both homesteads and fields during the Rabi season under the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and President of the Upazila Agricultural Rehabilitation Implementation Committee, Dr. Tamanna Tasneem, distributed the agricultural inputs among the farmers as the chief guest at a function held on Monday afternoon at the Upazila Parishad premises.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Aulia Khatun delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Among others, Additional Agriculture Officer Syed Shakil Ahmed, Agricultural Extension Officer Suraiya Akhter, Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Md. Mashiur Rahman, and BRDB Officer Dilara Akhter Moni Fakir were present.

Of the total beneficiaries, 300 farmers received seeds of various vegetables including brinjal, spinach, red amaranth, beans, gourd, radish, and batishak for cultivation in homestead areas.

As part of the field-level vegetable incentive programme, 540 farmers received seeds of gourd, brinjal, sweet pumpkin, and cucumber.

Each farmer was also provided with 10 kilograms of DAP and MOP fertilizers.
