BGB seizes Indian smuggled goods worth over Tk12.63 crore in B Baria

BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 19, 2025(BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today seized Indian smuggled goods worth over Taka 12.63 crore from Ram-Chandrapur area under Sarail upazila of the district.

A team of the BGB Sarail Battalion, acting on a tip off, raided Ram Chandrapur area and seized the India goods, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 25th BGB Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed said.

The BGB team halted a Dhaka-bound pick up at Champaknagar area on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway but its driver and helper could manage to flee from the scene. 

The team later seized 15,192 pieces of Indian mobile phone’s display and 107 pieces of high quality blankets from the pickup van. The estimated cost of the seized Indian goods worth about Taka 12,63,20,000, the BGB CO added.

The seized goods were deposited to the Customs ‘godown’ (warehouse) at Akhaura. Lawful actions were taken in this connection.
