Food corner fined Tk 2 lakh in Rupganj

NARAYANGANJ, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Environment (DoE) has imposed a fine of Tk 200,000 on Hashem Foods Limited following a drive conducted in the Aukhar area of Rupganj upazila here in the district.

The operation was led by Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Marjanur Rahman, with support from officials of the Rupganj Police Station and the District Environment Department.

According to the DoE, the company was penalised for violating the Solid Waste Management Rules 2021 under the Bangladesh Environment Protection Act, 1995. The full amount of the fine has been collected.

Authorities said similar drives will continue regularly against factories and projects found to be causing environmental pollution.
