NARSINGDI, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in Monohardi upazila of the district has demolished two brick kilns for operating without approval from the Department of Environment (DoE).

The operation was carried out on Tuesday afternoon at AKF Bricks in Akanagar village and Maa Bricks in Chula village under Gotasia Union.

Md Badrul Huda, deputy director of the DoE in Narsingdi, confirmed the action.

During the drive, the owner of Maa Bricks was fined Tk 1.5 lakh, while the owner of AKF Bricks was fined Tk 1 lakh. Acting on a court order, the mobile court dismantled the brick kilns' round chimneys, firing chambers and piles of raw bricks using an excavator.

The operation was led by Monohardi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Sajib Mia, with Inspector Samar Krishna Das of the DoE and members of Monohardi Police Station present.

According to the DoE, both kilns had been producing bricks without the mandatory environmental clearance. The owners were instructed not to resume operations without proper approval and submitted written undertakings pledging to comply with the law.

Executive Magistrate Md Sajib Mia warned that any brick kiln operating without valid documentation in Monohardi would be treated as illegal, adding that similar drives would continue to protect the environment and enforce regulations.
