RAJSHAHI, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS)- More than 320 marginalised women farmers were
given ideas on ensuring their legitimate rights, inclusion and preventing
violence against them.

They were also given knowledge on how to stand and raise voice against
digital violence and to ensure safe space in working fields.

The women's gathering titled "Ensuring Farmers Rights and Inclusion and
preventing violence against women and children" was held at Muslimpur Girls
Academy playground under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district today.

As part of implementation of its project titled "Shifting the power to
grassroots communities through strengthening farmer led CSOs and improving
their engagement in the sustainable development process (SWABOL)",
Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO)
organised the gathering.

European Union and Traidcraft Exchange Bangladesh extended financial support
for implementation of the project being implemented in Nachole upazila under
Chapainawabganj and Tanore upazila in Rajshahi districts.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Golam Rabbani Sarker, Assistant Commissioner
(Land) Razia Sultana, Agriculture Officer Saleh Akram, Secondary Education
Officer Dulal Uddin Khan and Livestock Officer Kawsar Ahmed addressed the
meeting.

Welcoming the participants, ASSEDO Executive Director Rabiul Alam said the
project aims to boost the social capital and abilities of smallholder farmer-
led civil society organisations to advocate for inclusive sustainable
development.

Its main goal is to improve the social capital and capacities of the
organisations to support inclusive sustainable development.

The specific objective is to enhance the legal standing and operational
capacity of the organizations, creating civic space for them to influence
service delivery in line with national policies.

Key outputs involve legally registering the grassroots organisations FSFCSOs,
facilitating their engagement with duty bearers, ensuring collaboration
within their networks to include marginalized groups' priorities.
