Five women honored on Begum Rokeya Day in Feni

FENI, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - In celebration of Begum Rokeya Day 2025, five women of the district were honored with the Adhomya Nari Padak (Indomitable Women Medal) for their outstanding contributions to women's empowerment and social progress. 

The awards were presented by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Monira Haque at a ceremony held today at the DC's conference room, jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Women's Affairs.

The event was chaired by Nasrin Akhter, Deputy Director of the Feni Women's Affairs Department. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ismail Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Nishat Tabassum and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sultana Nasrin Kanta were present as special guests. 

Representatives from various women's organizations and senior officials of the administration also attended.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, crests, certificates, and gifts were handed over to the five recipients of this year's Adhomya Nari Padak. 

The awardees are Chumki Karmakar, (Parshuram)- recognized for achieving financial success, Mosammat Shirin Akhter (Chagalnaiya) - honored for contributions to education and employment, Begum Tajkera Chowdhury (Sonagazi) - awarded as a successful mother, Shirina Akhter (Sonagazi) - recognized for her remarkable life struggle and Shahnaz Akhter (Chagalnaiya) - awarded for her role in social development.

Speaking at the ceremony, DC Monira Haque emphasized the strength and resilience of women. "May women's power triumph. Women are not behind in anything-they are victorious in everything. I myself am a woman. It was not easy for me to reach this position; the journey was challenging. With my parents' prayers and Allah's grace, I was able to come this far," she said.

She added that women can overcome obstacles and move forward with determination, urging them to stand strong in the face of adversity.

The event concluded with renewed commitment to promoting women's empowerment and celebrating their achievements across all spheres of society.
