17 AL men arrested in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 17 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its associate and front organizations in a day-long drive across the district on Thursday.

Police said the arrestees, were involved in various criminal activities, including plotting to destabilize the present government following the ouster of the AL government.

In Jamalpur Sadar upazila, those arrested are Md Nure Alam Simanto, 25, Md Nayeem, 25, Mahabubur Rahaman Akanda, 36, Ruhul Amin, 40, Md Liton, 36, and Mahmudul Hassan, 41.

In Melandah upazila, Tipu Sultan, 58, and Md Shah Ali, 60, were arrested.

The arrestees in Madarganj upazila are Md Nannu Parvez, 36, Md Rakibul Hassan, 35, Md Abdul Malek, 55, Mir Raisul Islam Rasel, 42, and Md Jahangir Alam, 55.

In Islampur upazila, Md Sonahar Sarkar, 36, and Md Khorshed Alam Hasmat, 52, were arrested, while Md Rabiul Awal, 42, was arrested in Sarishabari upazila and Md Mahibul Islam, 61, in Bakshiganj upazila.

Inspector of Jamalpur Police Control Room Md Golam Sarwar said the arrested persons were accused in various criminal cases filed with Jamalpur Sadar, Melandah, Bakshiganj, Saris.
