CHATTOGRAM, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and district police have taken tight security measures in different churches across the port city and district ahead of Christmas, the biggest festival of the Christian community.

Police sources said checkpoints and regular patrols have been intensified in churches under 16 police stations in the city and 15 thanas in the district.

An Additional Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) of CMP said law enforcement agencies would remain vigilant at key points of the city and district to prevent any untoward incidents.

He said all necessary preparations for Christmas celebrations in the city's churches have been completed alongside the churches' own security arrangements.

During the festive season, hotels and restaurants in the city have been decorated, while Christian households are also setting up Christmas trees.

Special prayers were held at Patharghata Catholic Church, the largest church in the district, as well as at Jamalkhan and Pahartali Catholic churches marking the occasion.

Intelligence agencies have been put on high alert for Christmas Day, with additional police forces deployed at every church.

Detective police units have been assigned in each division, while SWAT and bomb disposal units will remain on standby to ensure overall security.
