DMP bans fireworks, lanterns in Dhaka ahead of Christmas Celebrations

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a temporary ban on the use of fireworks, crackers, lanterns and gas balloons in the capital city to ensure a peaceful and solemn celebration of Christmas, the biggest religious festival of Christians.

According to a notification issued by DMP, the ban will remain in force from 6:00 pm on December 24, 2025, to 6:00 am on December 26, 2025. 

The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety and to maintain law and order during the festive period.

DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has sought the full cooperation of city residents to help celebrate the holy Christmas festival smoothly and safely. 

The police authority emphasized that adherence to the directive will contribute to maintaining a calm and festive environment across the capital.

The DMP urged all concerned to comply with the restrictions for the greater good of public safety and communal harmony.
