DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali vowed to expose all those involved in the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Speaking at a sit-in programme organised by Inqilab Mancha at Shahbagh on Saturday, the DMP Commissioner described the killing as a "mysterious" incident and said there are indications that multiple individuals were involved in the crime.

"The real mystery of the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi will be revealed. We will disclose the names and addresses of all those behind the incident," he said.

He expressed hope that the charge sheet in the murder case would be submitted to the court by January 7, adding that the investigation is progressing swiftly.

According to him, the government has assigned all law enforcement agencies-including police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-to uncover the masterminds behind the crime.

The DMP Commissioner said significant progress has already been made, with 11 people arrested so far.

Those detained include the main accused Faisal Karim Masud's father Humayun Kabir, mother Hasi Begum, wife Samia, wife's elder brother Shipu, and girlfriend Maria.

Police have also recovered two pistols allegedly used in the murder, which are currently being kept at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for scientific examination.

The motorcycle used in the attack has been recovered by the Detective Branch (DB) police.

He further revealed that a huge amount of money was spent in carrying out the murder, and a cheque signed for Tk 218 crore has been seized during the investigation.

According to police, Faisal Karim Masud and an accomplice opened fire on Hadi while riding a motorcycle as he was heading toward Suhrawardy Udyan after conducting a campaign near Motijheel Mosque on December 12.

Critically injured, Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, Hadi was flown to Singapore on December 15, where he died on December 18 while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.

Following the attack, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha, filed a case with Paltan Police Station on December 14 on charges of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and use of dangerous weapons.

After Hadi's death, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddique Azad on December 20 ordered the addition of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code to the case.
