Fire guts 10 houses in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 27, 2025 (BSS)- A total of 10 houses were gutted in a fire 
that broke out on Friday night at Urban Ali Saudagar house near Ananda Bazaar 
in Haldarkul area of Samityrhat Union under Fatikchari upazila of the 
district. 

The fire quickly spread to the houses, including a 200-year-old traditional 
two-storey house. 

Local sources reported that the fire started in the old house and rapidly 
engulfed the surrounding buildings. Firefighters from Fatikchhari Fire 
Service arrived at the scene and worked for hours to extinguish the flames. 

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Nurul Alam, chairman (Acting) of Samitirhat Union Parishad (UP), confirmed 
the incident and mentioned that locals rushed to the spot upon hearing about 
the fire. 

Later, the firefighters arrived and managed to bring the fire under control.

Locals expressed that the 200-year-old two-storey house held significant 
historical and traditional value for the area. The house was constructed 
using teak wood imported from Rangoon city in Burma and assembled with iron 
bolts.
